It’s hard to have a whole big fat belief system when you’re barely surviving and you can hardly pay your rent and you’re worried about feeding your dog and you’ve got not a dime in the bank. You start not believing in a whole lot of things. You start doubting yourself at every turn. My manager got rid of me the day before I got on Supernatural, saying she couldn’t resurrect my career. And right after that I got Weeds and Grey’s Anatomy. I found the humor in the whole thing, believe it or not. I learned a long time ago that the only way I was going to get through life is by smiling and laughing through it. So even when things were bad, I did my share of laughing.
